CNS PLAYS FIVES AT HARROW
At last a chance to 'cut' and 'shoot' for real. We arrived on the dot of 10.30 a.m. at Harrow School but it made little difference as everything was new. Not only was it our first match but also a 'paired, knock out competition'. We immediately paired off and were given a number 1 to 4. This led to a round robin against four other sides and although our best result was to lose 12 - 6 it made little difference as we were playing matches. Lunchtime found us in a plush canteen with excellent food and you could go round as many times as you liked. How many yoghurts did you get XXX? So what did we achieve? Sore hands, bumps and scrapes from the hard Fives' court walls and a lot of losses. But who cares? We played many games, had much fun and saw how it should be played, as we will NEXT YEAR. You wait until we get new gloves and practice with the balls we gained from Harrow. Report by Mr Finch

YEAR 9
Following this Thursday's meetings about Y10 & 11 Choices, the parent-teacher consultation meeting for Year 9 will be on Thursday 26th April. This will give parents the opportunity to seek advice on options.

MR GRAHAM DRAKE
Former students and Governors will remember Graham Drake who died recently. Mr Drake was a former student of CNS and for many years a Governor of the school. We express our sympathy to Mr Drake's family.
Y12 GEOGRAPHY FIELDWORK Y12 Geographers were based at Cranedale Field Centre in Yorkshire from 19 to 23 March. The group had to contend with Foot & Mouth Restrictions, wayward rail timetabling and decidedly wintry weather, but nonetheless proved themselves equal to the task of working intensively both in and out of doors on Geography fieldwork for almost 12 hours a day! Relaxation was therefore well earned making for an experience which was one of the high points of Y12 for all involved. The group were complimented on their attitude by the centre staff. Report by Mr Maddocks.

FLYING SCHOLARSHIP
Congratulations to Luke Jules, VIWi, on being awarded a Flying Scholarship by the RAF. Luke will spend part of the Summer undertaking some Intensive flying training.

GERMAN EXCHANGE RETURNS
Students who have spent the last week at our partner school on the Rhein have returned looking distinctly healthy. Accompanied by Miss Wind, Mr Kreft and Miss Tang, students undertook a range of activities whilst simultaneously perfecting their German! Well done to all involved for making this an excellent visit and for bringing credit to CNS.

WORLDWISE QUIZ
The CNS team is one of nine teams to be competing in the National Finals at the University of Sussex on 9 April. A Map Trail and the semi-finals precede the grand final for three successful teams. Good luck to the Year 10 students involved, ably coached by Mr Stannard. To all students and families, we wish you a very happy Easter holiday.
