PERICLES
The Lower School production of 'Pericles and the Dwarves of Tyre' played to full houses last Thursday and Friday. A complex plot and some difficult lines to learn presented the cast with a real challenge. However, everyone involved rose to the challenge and through effective team work the story of Pericles' epic journey unfolded. A good extra dose of Christmas humour made for a thoroughly entertaining evening. Congratulations and thank you to cast, crew and to Mrs Wickham, the director.

CNS ASSOCIATION
As a result of School Association fund-raising events like last month's Quiz Night, we are improving the environment through modest decoration, new signing and additional display boards. In the Spring, we will be siting new benches at various points in the school grounds. Thank you to all involved.

CHRISTMAS CONCERT
The Christmas Concert takes place on Wednesday 13th December at 7.30 pm. Admission is by programme, price £3, available from the school office or the Music Department. A varied and seasonal programme is planned.

SCHOOL COUNCIL
The Council met on Wednesday 22nd November. Productive discussion took place with School Councillors undertaking various projects that will enhance the life of the school. Helping to ensure respect for the buildings, especially toilet areas, was a major item for discussion.

CHARITIES WEEK
A huge response in aid of the Norwich Night Shelter. But how much will we raise?
GUIDANCE DAY : 19 DECEMBER
The Academic Review Day for students in Years 10, 11 and 12 takes place on Tuesday 19 December. Letters have been sent home in recent weeks about this important aspect of our guidance programme. Students will have study leave for the day and will only be required to attend school for the review meeting. They should be wearing school uniform.

Students in Years 8 and 9 will be involved in a separate programme throughout the day and should attend school normally. Further details will be provided shortly. Students in Year 13 have an additional study day and should use the time to embark on holiday assignments. They may use school study facilities that day if they wish.

WORLD AIDS DAY
The international event on 1st December was marked at CNS by the sale of Aids Awareness Ribbons.

YOUTH CHOICES
On Wednesday 29 November, a group of students in Year 10 attended a series of presentations and workshops concerned with Health Awareness. The event took place at the Assembly Rooms. Agencies including the Matthew Project, the Eating Disorders Association, the Health Authority, the Family Planning service and The Samaritans contributed to an enjoyable and informative visit.

'LEARNING JOURNEY'
Copies of this recent publication - produced by the Department for Education and Employment - are available from the school office at no charge while stocks last. The booklet is a parent's guide to the secondary curriculum and provides a useful summary of national arrangements.
